East India Holidays: East India is composed of West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar. The region situated between the North and North Eastern India and has a large number of monuments of historical significance.

Highlights of East India:

Darjeeling: Located in the state of West Bengal, Darjeeling demands a number of days from visitors to visit its hills, tea estates and coffee plantations. Besides, there are Buddhist monasteries, mountaineering institute, sunrise views at the Tiger Hill and of course the Toy Train which happens to be one of the most interesting ways to soak the natural beauty of the place.

Climate and Best time to visit: The climate of Darjeeling always remains pleasant round the year except a few months in monsoons. In summer season temperature hovers between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius while in winters it can be cold with temperatures dropping down to 2 degrees. Best time to visit Darjeeling is from March to May and September to November. 

Mahabodhi Temple Bodhgaya: Located in the state of Bihar, Bodhgaya is a serene and quite village known as the holiest amongst all Buddhist pilgrimages for it was here that a young prince's quest of eternal knowledge came to an end and he came to be known as “Buddha”. The pyramidal structured temple touches the sky with the height of 170 feet and dates back to the 2nd century AD. 

Vaishali: Situated 55 kms from Patna in Bihar, Vaishali is  a tourist destination which is named after king Vishal, a ruler during the time of Ramayana. This place is also a birth place of Lord Mahavira.

Places of interest in Vaishali: Ashokan Pillar, The Lion Pillar at Kolhua built by Emperor Ashoka, Bawan Pokhar Temple, Buddha Stupa-I, Buddha Stupa-II, Raja Vishal ka Garh, Shanti Stupa.

Festivals: The Vaishali Mahotsav in April celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira.

Shillong: Located in the beautiful state of Meghalaya, Shillong is proudly known as the capital city of the state. The place, the atmosphere and the people there all combine together to make this place a perfect holiday resort throughout the year.

Places of interest in Shillong: Botanical Garden & Museum, lady Hydari Park & Mini zoo, Wei Tdem (Sweet Falls), Elephanta Falls, Shillong peak, Butterfly museum, Shillong Golf Course, Umian Lake.

Festivals: Shad Sukmynsiem is a thanks giving dance held in Shillong every year in the April Month.

Konark: Located in the magnificent state of Orissa, Konark is well known in the world for its Sun Temple. The temple is dedicated to Surya, the Sun God. Apart from the breathtaking architecture that the temple got, Konark beach is also famous tourist spot and is one of the most delightful beaches in East India.
